Mid Century Inspired Kitchen

This young family described the challenges of cooking and cleaning up in their existing kitchen, where appliance doors prevented easy passage and the wide grout joints in the flooring were impossible to keep clean. They described what they were looking for in regards to a mid century inspired aesthetic and easy maintenance. We relocated the sink, to maximize the workspace between the sink and cooking surface, and the refrigerator, to create a cooking zone separate from food storage. Taking advantage of the high ceilings, we removed the existing plant shelves and put in 42” high wall cabinets and closed off above with drywall to help dampen noise reverberating throughout the home. The Cherry slab Kraftmaid cabinets are paired with a gold veined quartz countertop and a navy metallic three-dimensional tile.
